BANGOR, Maine — A mother of three young children was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Bangor to 18 months in prison for trying to buy guns at a Bangor pawnshop for three men from Massachusetts two years ago.

Katrina Wickett, 25, of Alton pleaded guilty in April to lying on an application for a firearm. It is illegal to buy guns for another person. She faced up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Wickett who agreed to testify against the men for whom she tried to buy the guns, was moved by federal prosecutors to the Portland area after threats were made against her, according to the sentencing memorandum filed by her attorney.

She and her children — ages 6, 4 and 2 — live with her parents in Alton, according to court documents.
