Train lovers climbed aboard the Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railway’s observation car and coach for the opening weekend of excursions on the fabled short line. Sponsored by the Brooks Preservation Society, the excursions will depart each weekend from Brooks Station. The society has rights over the track between Burnham Junction and Waldo. Society President Joey Feero said Saturday’s inaugural run attracted a lively crowd of riders and plenty of volunteers to help things run smoothly. “The trouble is they all want to be part of the train crew,” Feero joked.
