VAN BUREN – Daniel H. Marquis, 65, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at a Van Buren health care facility. He was born Sept. 14, 1943, in Van Buren, the son of Wilfred and Madeliene (Michaud) Marquis. Dan worked for many years as a certified welder for various construction companies in Connecticut. After his retirement, Dan relocated back to the St. John Valley area. Dan was an avid outdoorsman who really enjoyed hunting, especially when he could bring his beloved nieces and nephews with him. He was a member of the Black Bear Rifle Club, Frenchville. Dan is survived by two sisters, Carline Parent and her husband, Cyr, of Manchester, Conn., and Simone Vaillancourt of Van Buren; three brothers, Francis Marquis and his wife, Joan, of Farmington, Conn., Robert Marquis and his wife, Sharon, of Willington, Conn., and David Marquis of New Haven, Conn.; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Dan will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends. Relatives and friends may call 8 a.m. until time of service Friday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church with Father David Cote celebrant. Committal service and interment will be at the parish cemetery.
