BAR HARBOR, Maine — Actor and activist Richard Dreyfuss is the keynote speaker at the Maine State Bar Association’s summer meeting in Bar Harbor.

The Academy Award-winning star of “Jaws,” “The Goodbye Girl” and “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” will speak Friday about the need for civic engagement.

Dreyfuss says he now devotes himself full-time to a “nonprofit initiative to revive a curriculum of civics for all of the grades kindergarten through 12.”

Hundreds of lawyers are expected to attend the weekend meeting, which includes seminars, presentations and dancing to the music of the RetroRockerz, a garage band whose members include Justice Andrew Mead of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.
