The combined ballots of voters from the three communities that make up Regional School Unit 26 passed on Tuesday the RSU’s proposed budget for the coming fiscal year, which begins July 1.

Although Glenburn voters didn’t approve the $20.4 million budget, the RSU-wide total of 176-117 was enough to pass the referendum.

The Glenburn vote was 31 yes votes and 35 no.

The budget was approved in Orono 103-70 and in Veazie 42-12.

The budget includes $9.8 million for regular instruction and $3.3 million for special education programs.

The RSU board of directors will meet at 7 tonight in the Veazie Community School library to validate the results.
