What will come of Iran’s election dispute?

Supporters of presidential candidate Mir-Hossein Mousavi protested the victory claimed by incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, clashing violently with police over the week-end. Meanwhile, the nation’s religious leaders called for an investigation into the election, which Mousavi supporters claim was tainted by fraud. Where will this end? Will the govern-ment crack down and perhaps become more restrictive? Or is this an awakening of a younger, more secular and democratic Iran? Did either the U.S. invasion of Iraq or President Obama’s recent speech in Cairo aimed at the Muslim world empower Iranian moderates?
