Break-in attempted at Sangerville store

By Diana Bowley, BDN Staff

SANGERVILLE, Maine — An attempted break-in Sunday night at Robinson’s Mobil Mart in Sangerville is under investigation by the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department.

Somebody used a ladder that was stored in the rear of the building to climb to a vent near the top of the building. The vent was pushed in but no entry was gained into the building, according to Sgt. Mike Gould of the Sheriff’s Department. Police said that either the vent was too small or the burglar was spooked and left. The ladder was left standing against the building, he said.

The damage to the vent was discovered by an employee early Monday morning. Gould said the attempted break-in occurred between 11:30 p.m. Sunday and early Monday morning.

Anyone who may have seen any activity at the store between those hours is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Department at 564-3304.
