Maine indicts driver nabbed after 3-state chase

ALFRED, Maine — A 26-year-old Bangor man who allegedly led police on a wild high-speed chase through three states in April has been indicted on five charges.

The Portland Press Herald reported Wednesday that the York County grand jury this month indicted Christopher Goehringer on counts of eluding police, passing a roadblock, reckless conduct with a weapon, criminal speed and driving to endanger.

Goehringer was apprehended in Haverhill, Mass., after his 1990 BMW allegedly hit speeds of more than 130 mph while leading police through Maine and New Hampshire on the night of April 2.

State police said Goehringer eluded a trooper at the Maine Turnpike rest stop in Kennebunk, then drove around spike mats near the York toll plaza and continued on before eventually crashing into a police cruiser.
