DEXTER – Melvin A. “Buddy” Knowlton, 77, husband of Gloria (Currier) Knowlton, died May 31, 2009, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born May 6, 1932, in Blanchard, son of Leon C. and Celia N. (Perry) Knowlton. A U.S. Army veteran, he had worked at Pride Manufacturing for more than 25 years. In his early years he raced stock cars and he was always an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed attending races in Greenville with his dear friend, Jerry. He especially enjoyed family get-togethers at the family home in Blanchard. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Gloria of Dexter; two sons, Allen and his wife, Felicia, of Columbia, Pa., and Christopher and his wife, Stacey, of Dexter; five grandchildren, Hannah and Aaron of Columbia, Pa., and Airiell, Amber and Myra of Dexter; a sister, Glenda Graham of Blanchard; and three brothers, Colby K. of Sangerville, Donald and his wife, Joyce, of Blanchard and Darryl of Athens. He was predeceased by four sisters, Kathleen, Rachel, Jackie and an infant sister; and a brother, Wayne. Buddy’s family extends their grateful appreciation to the staff at Dexter Nursing Home for the loving care he received while living there. Graveside memorial services will be conducted noon Friday, June 5, in the family lot at Blanchard Cemetery.
