AUGUSTA, Maine — State police say motorists on some Maine highways may experience delays this week as oversized tractor trailers transport large sections of windmill turbines between Jackman and the Penobscot County town of Chester.

Police said the convoys will be traveling along U.S. Route 201 to Skowhegan, Route 2 from Skowhegan to Hermon, and then streets in Bangor before heading north on Interstate 95.

The travel route through Bangor will be Odlin Road, Hammond and State streets, and Hogan Road. Because of the width of the oversized loads, traffic on those Bangor streets will be blocked for a time.

State police will escort the big rigs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and motorists should expect delays along that 170-mile route.
