BANGOR, Maine – The Eddington man who donned a Halloween mask and threaten a Brewer store clerk with a knife on Oct. 31 was sentenced Monday in Penobscot County Superior Court to five years in prison with all but a year suspended for his part in the robbery.

Jesse D. Hatch, 19, also was sentenced to three years of probation for being part of a foursome involved in the Halloween robbery of the Family Dollar store on Wilson Street.

Hatch, who earlier this year pleaded guilty to armed robbery and theft of more than $2,600, apologized to the court and is family for his involvement in the scheme that was planned by a store employee, Charles Dion, 20, of Brewer.

Dion has pleaded guilty to robbery and theft. His sentencing date has not been set.

Two others involved in the robbery were sentenced last month to jail time.

Jason A. Goodin, 20, of Holden was sentenced to four years with all but six months suspended and three years of probation for armed robbery and theft. He pleaded guilty to the charges earlier this year.

Raeleigh Hill, 18, of Eddington was sentenced to three years with all but nine months suspended for theft. She admitted driving the getaway car but did not actually participate in the robbery, according to Greg Campbell, assistant district attorney for Penobscot County.

Hatch, Goodin and Hill began serving their sentences after their court appearances.

The three defendants have been ordered to pay restitution. Dion also is expected to be ordered to repay a portion of the money stolen.
