AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine soldiers who’ve died in service since Sept. 11, 2001, have been honored in the state Capitol.
Gov. John Baldacci led a ceremony Friday to dedicate a new Battlefield Cross Memorial. Baldacci also recognized the families of the 39 Maine soldiers who lost their lives since the day of the terrorist attacks.
An identification tag for each fallen soldier was placed on the memorial, and an identical ID tag was presented to each family.
