ALFRED, Maine — A Wells woman will remain in jail while awaiting trial on charges that she killed her husband by dousing him with gasoline and setting him on fire while he slept.

At a bail hearing Thursday, a York County Superior Court judge said Kimberly Spampinato will continue to be held without bail on murder and arson charges. She has pleaded not guilty.

Spampinato is accused of setting her husband on fire shortly after midnight on Jan. 8. Christopher Spampinato was burned over 85 percent of his body and died nine days later at a Boston hospital.

WGME-TV said prosecutors are still awaiting the results of Kimberly Spampinato’s psychiatric evaluations and that a trial date could be set sometime this summer.
