Maine’s US reps look ahead

The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine — The Democratic incumbents in Maine’s two U.S. House seats already are showing new fundraising success.

U.S. Reps. Chellie Pingree and Mike Michaud could be seeking re-election in 2010.

And the Portland Press Herald reports that federal records show both are amassing contributions well ahead of levels for comparable periods in the past.

Citing Federal Election Commission records, the newspaper reported Tuesday that Pingree, of the 1st District, raised $44,955 from January through March.

Michaud, representing the 2nd District, raised $75,061 in the first quarter, according to the Press Herald.
