The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine — A 24-year-old Westbrook woman is free on $5,000 bail following her arrest on charges of assault and endangering the welfare of a 6-month-old boy at the day care center where she worked.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department said Meggan Loker was arrested Saturday in connection with a May 15 incident at Caring Place Daycare Facility in North Yarmouth.

The department said the incident was discovered by another staff person who reported it immediately. Loker was fired and the state Department of Health and Human Services was notified.

The Portland Press Herald said Loker is scheduled to appear in court July 15.
