PORTLAND, Maine — A man who allegedly used a 2-foot-long stick to attack two Portland police officers when they responded to a 911 hang-up call is being held in the Cumberland County Jail.
Officers Mark Keller and Chris Dyer suffered minor injuries during the incident, which took place shortly before midnight Monday on Arbor Street. Police said 46-year-old Patrick Tibbi hit Keller on the head and struck Dyer on the face, cutting his lip.
The Portland Press Herald quotes police as saying the two officers were able to subdue Tibbi, and then arrest him. Tibbi was charged with assault on a police officer, refusing to submit to arrest and domestic assault.
Police said that in addition to the stick, officers found six knives on Tibbi’s person.
