BANGOR, Maine — Maine State Police were unable to capture the driver of a vehicle spotted going the wrong way Friday night on Interstate 95 before he or she apparently was able to get turned around or off the highway.

No accidents were reported.

State police received more than 35 calls in about five minutes beginning at 10:30 p.m., communications supervisor Chad LaBree said Saturday afternoon.

Every caller reported the same thing — a driver was heading south in the northbound lanes between exits 183 and 184, he said.

No one was able to give police a license plate number or detailed vehicle description, LaBree said.
