AUGUSTA, Maine — The acting chief executive officer of the Finance Authority of Maine is now in the job on a permanent basis.

Elizabeth Bordowitz of Portland was sworn in Thursday by Gov. John Baldacci, who said she has the experience and leadership ability needed to lead FAME through tough economic conditions.

Bordowitz joined FAME as assistant counsel in 1989 and was promoted to general counsel six years later. She has served as acting CEO since October 2007.

FAME is a quasi-independent state agency that helps with business financing and provides educational loans, grants and scholarship programs.
