HAMPDEN, Maine — A popular local seafood restaurant with locations in Searsport and Newport is expanding to a third location on Cold Brook Road in Hampden.

Bud Hall and his children, Ken Hall and Amy Hall, along with several others have been busy the last few weeks preparing for the grand opening on Wednesday, May 20, of the new Anglers Restaurant.

“I’ve seen and been a part of a lot of restaurant openings in the past. It’s always a little hectic,” Bud Hall said Thursday from the new location.

The latest Anglers Restaurant will be housed in a converted old stone house on Cold Brook Road, near the intersection of Route 202. Hall admitted he always has had his eye on the Hampden property. When it came on the market recently, he jumped.

“We’ve had to do a complete retrofit from residential to commercial,” he said. “But we’re looking forward to serving the people of Hampden.”

Anglers, which specializes in fresh seafood, has been a popular staple in downtown Searsport since 2000. The Halls opened a second location on Elm Street in Newport in 2002.

“It will be the same menu as the other two restaurants,” Hall said of the Hampden spot. “We’re going to stick with what works.”

The Halls will hold an invitation-only event on Tuesday, May 19, for area businesspeople and town leaders as a way to introduce the restaurant to Hampden.

The public is welcome beginning with lunch on Wednesday.
