FORT FAIRFIELD – Edmond Robert “Bob” Adams Sr., 79, husband of Marcia (Rediker) Adams, passed away Thursday evening, May 7, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility after an extended illness. He was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Edmond L. and Elizabeth (Ruest) Adams. He was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School and attended Ricker College, Houlton. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was married to Marcia Rediker, June 3, 1957. Bob worked in his father’s hardware store for a number of years before becoming employed by the former A&P Processing Plant which later became Interstate Foods, Fort Fairfield, where he worked for 32 years until his retirement. He was a former member of VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Fort Fairfield, served as a volunteer firefighter for Fort Fairfield Fire Department for 18 years and was a communicant of St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by one brother, George Adams. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marcia Adams of Fort Fairfield; one son, Edmond Robert Adams Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Presque Isle; two daughters, Lisa Crum and her husband, Fred, of Germantown, Md., and Judith Connors of Bath; one brother, Thomas Adams of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Ruth Towle of Fort Fairfield; four grandchildren, Chris Higgins and his wife, Jenny, of Ellsworth, Ryan Connors of Bath, Brandon Adams of Presque Isle and Amanda Adams and her significant other, Jesse Belmain, of Presque Isle; one great-grandson, Noah Belmain; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday, May 11, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, at St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Clement Thibodeau, celebrant. Private interment with military honors will take place at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately after the funeral Mass.
