BREWER, Maine — The planning board on Monday approved site plans for a new Penobscot Eye Care facility on Dirigo Drive, Tena Williams, deputy code enforcement officer, said Tuesday.
The 6,700-square foot, one-story building will sit beside the Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic, which is at the corner of Dirigo Drive and Parkway South.
“The estimated starting date is June 2009 and estimated project completion is fall ’09,” Williams said.
The eye care business, which now is located on Washington Street in Bangor, offers eye exams and eyeglasses for adults and children.
During the April planning board meeting, the lot where the new eye care facility will be located on Dirigo Drive was made into two because “they didn’t need that entire lot,” Williams said.
The back portion that was removed from the building lot now will be available for a future abutter to use, if needed, she said.
At the April meeting, the board also:
ä Approved another expansion at Kosta’s Restaurant & Bar on Wilson Street, to add an area off the back side of the building. “What they want to do is add a salad bar,” Williams said. As part of the approval, landscaping must be done and the parking has to be realigned, she said.
ä Endorsed an expansion at B&L Auto Parts, at 95 South Main St., that will basically double the size of the facility to just under 21,000 square feet. The expansion will add a loading dock, more warehouse space and will expand the sales area.
