Will the New York Times let the Boston Globe die?

Is the New York Times, the parent company of the Boston Globe, willing to let the Globe

close if union workers do not agree to concessions? Or is the Times bluffing? Does this

news portend bad tidings for unions, newspapers or the national economy? Or all three?

What would the impact be for New England if its most highly regarded daily paper were

to go out of business?
