Pittsfield road work may cause long delays

PITTSFIELD — A road project planned in Pittsfield for Monday was delayed until today because of a broken pavement grinder.

Travelers on Somerset Avenue may experience long delays, according to Town Manager Kathryn Ruth, as the Maine Department of Transportation is completing road repairs on Somerset Avenue from Hartland Avenue (Route 152) to Main Street (Route 100).

The entire section will be reduced to a single travel lane.

Ruth said the project contractor is Vaughn Thibodeau & Sons Inc. of Bangor.

“It would be advisable for those who can take an alternate route to do so,” Ruth said.
