Fire officials probe Baileyville blaze

By Diana Graettinger

BAILEYVILLE, Maine — Fire officials Wednesday were investigating the cause of a fire that apparently started in the living room of a two-family duplex.

Capt. John McPhee of the Baileyville Fire Department said that around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday neighbors on Summit Street spotted the fire and called 911.

The house belongs to John Neddeau. No one was home at the time.

The duplex was insured, the captain said Wednesday.

As soon as firefighters arrived they went inside and were able to quickly extinguish the fire, McPhee said.

“The whole living room was involved in the fire,” he said.

The cause of the fire was not known Wednesday afternoon.

Calais and Princeton firefighters and Baileyville volunteer ambulance assisted at the scene.
