Is the swine flu a serious health threat?

Whether it was SARS, the West Nile virus or killer bees, many of the health threats we learn about in the news do not deliver the expected horrors. Are these threats neutralized by a concerted and appropriate response, or were they overstated by a hyperventilating

media? Does the Mexican swine flu have the potential to kill millions, as the Spanish flu did in 1918? What should be the public response? Should schools be closed if a child

comes down with flu symptoms? Should we wear masks for a trip to the mall?
