ACTON, Maine — Maine State Police say an Acton man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his father outside their home.

Authorities said 22-year-old Ross Morrill was arrested by detectives Saturday night after Morrill’s father — 55-year-old Robert Morrill — was shot around 3 p.m.

The elder Morrill died shortly after arrival at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.

The younger Morrill was taken to the State Police barracks in Alfred for questioning following the shooting. After being charged, he was taken to the York County Jail and is expected to make his first court appearance on Tuesday.
