CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Officials in New Hampshire and Maine are warning that air pollution could reach unhealthy levels in certain areas this weekend.

The high temperatures and winds are expected to blow pollution into Hillsborough and Rockingham counties and elevations above 3,000 feet in New Hampshire on Saturday, according to the Nashua Telegram.

People with lung disease such as asthma, emphysema, and bronchitis, are advised to limit strenuous outdoor activities.

The air quality is expected to improve on Sunday.

In Maine, the state has issued its first ozone alert.

The Department of Environmental Protection says ground-level ozone pollution is expected to reach moderate levels away from the coast on Saturday and everywhere but northern Maine on Sunday.
