‘Idol’ judge dishes on Maine romance

For those of you who have been wanting to know the dish on “American Idol” Kara DioGuardi and her accidental run-in with true love in Maine, check out the most recent issue of Portland magazine.

The story reveals the truth about her first encounter with fiance and Maine general contractor Michael McCuddy, and it gives a lot of insight into her thoughts about the state and her coastal residence.

While we’re on the “Idol” train, I admit I got it wrong this week and thought for sure that Matt was going to go. It was definitely the end of the road for Lil Rounds, but I thought America would give Anoop another week. Obviously, I thought wrong.

And speaking of wrong, VH1 has done reality wrong once again.

They just can’t seem to let go of Tiffany “New York” Pollard, best known as the obnoxious contestant on “Flavor of Love” that went on to make a career of reality TV with “I Love New York” and “New York Goes to Hollywood.”

Now she’s taking a page out of Paris Hilton’s book by starring in yet another reality show that features someone famous looking for a real job.

In “New York Goes to Work,” she’ll try a new job each week, but there’s a catch. The viewers get to choose what she does for work. If she’s able to please her employer, New York gets a $5,000 bonus. If she quits, fails or is fired, she’s out of luck.

If you’re a New York fan, tune in at 10 p.m. Monday, May 4, on VH1. If not, consider this your warning to stay away.

In another reality rip-off, Bravo has stolen the format of its own show. They’re replacing “Project Runway,” which has left the network, with “The Fashion Show.” The idea is the same, but I’m afraid it’s going to be a knockoff flop. The show will feature 15 designers who will face off in fashion challenges on the runway. The only difference is that viewers will decide who walks off with the $125,000 and a chance to release their own clothing line.

I only hope host Isaac Mizrahi has the same success he has with his Target line, but I’m not holding my breath. Check it out at 10 p.m. Thursday, May 7, on Bravo.
