LORRAINE BILLIE AUTRY BOYD

CHERRYFIELD – Lorraine Billie Autry Boyd died April 16, 2009, in Cherryfield. She was born July 15, 1927, in Fort Worth, Texas, daughter of William and Nell Fairchild Autry. She had a brief marriage early in her life. In 1979 she married District Judge Will C. Boyd Jr. of Denton, Texas. After Will’s retirement from the bench, the couple lived in Cherryfield from 1985 to 1987 and again from 1991 until Will’s death in 1997. Thereafter, Lorraine continued living in Cherryfield until her death. From 1987 to 1991, the couple lived in Fredericksburg, Texas. Ms. Boyd earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Howard Payne College in Abilene, Texas, and her master’s degree at the University of Montana. She was a teacher for many years and also spent time in the fashion merchandise business before marrying Judge Boyd. She was a very devout Christian and had a strong interest in political matters. She had long been an organist at her church. She is survived by two stepsons, Dan S. Boyd of Dallas and Randall S. Boyd of Denton, Texas, both attorneys; four grandchildren, Amy Elizabeth Boyd, an attorney in Boston; Daniel James Boyd, a natural gas exploration executive in Dallas; Caroline Elizabeth Boyd, an executive of a non-profit crisis center in Dallas; Catherine Terry Boyd, a law student at the University of Houston; and a cousin, Doris Middleton, of Fort Worth, Texas. A celebration of life will be celebrated 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at First Baptist Church of Cherryfield. Burial will be after at Small Cemetery, North Street, Cherryfield.
