BASEBALL

St. Joseph’s 14, Colby 11

WATERVILLE — Ben Grant-Roy went 5-for-5 with a pair of doubles and Mike Burdin homered and doubled as Saint Joseph’s College of Standish outlasted Colby College 14-11 in a college baseball game Monday. Todd Keneborus, Chris Campbell and Ian Lee had three hits apiece for the winners, who have won five of their last six. Keneborus drove in four runs, Campbell knocked in three and Lee delivered two as the Monks unleashed a 22-hit attack. Kyle McKay, Richard Newton and John Lerner homered for the Mules. McKay had two singles to go with his homer and Newton had a triple to go with his homer. John LaMantia had two doubles and a single in Colby’s 16-hit attack, Craig Cooper had a double and two singles and Taro Gold singled twice.

JENNA BALENT (University of Maine senior) softball pitcher of week, 3-0 with 0.00 ERA in three games, 21 strikeouts, eight walks.

Little East

ANTHONY D’ALFONSO (University of Southern Maine senior), baseball player of week, batted .536 in USM’s 6-0 week, two doubles, four home runs, 19 RBIs.

COLLIN HENRY (University of Southern Maine junior) baseball pitcher of week, seven-hit shutout vs. Keene State, no walks, two strikeouts.

DOUG MERCER (University of Southern Maine senior), track athlete of week, won 400 meters (49.59 seconds) and fourth in 200 (23.20) in four-team meet at Colby College.

JUSTIN VIGEANT (University of Southern Maine freshman), rookie men’s track athlete of week, second in 200 (22.53) and 400 (49.85) in four-team meet at Colby College.

MATTIA ZAGON (University of Southern Maine freshman), rookie men’s field athlete of week, won long jump, third in 200 meters in four-team meet at Colby College.

BETHANY DUMAS (University of Southern Maine freshman), rookie women’s field athlete of week, won pole vault, second in javelin, seventh in long jump in meet at University of Massachusetts Lowell.

NESCAC

RICH MCNEIL (Bates College junior), men’s field performer of week, won shot put, discus, hammer throw in four-team meet at Colby College.

BRIANNA KONDRAT (Colby College senior), first-place finishes in hammer throw and discuss in four-team meet at Colby College.
