NEWPORT – Joseph Albert Richard Cayer Sr., 84, died April 11, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Dec. 23, 1924, in Amesbury, Mass., a son of Aime and Alice (Parent) Cayer. He attended Sacred Heart School, graduated from Amesbury High School and graduated from Lowell Technical College. Joseph served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He owned and operated CADO Fabrications, Amesbury, Mass., for 42 years. He and his son owned and operated Palmyra Golf Course. Joseph loved his wife and children. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, June (Curran) Cayer, March 17, 2009. Joseph is survived by his son, Joseph “Rick” Cayer Jr. and wife, Lynda, of Palmyra; his daughter, Deborah and Wayne Pereira of Steep Falls; his sister, Claire Riopel of Melrose, Mass.; seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter.
