AUGUSTA — Gov. John Baldacci says he can’t remember being more excited to see “Construction Ahead” signs while traveling around Maine.
Baldacci said in his weekend radio address that every sign like that means Mainers are hard at work, and many of their projects are funded by the federal stimulus act. That includes more than $30 million for an Interstate 295 reconstruction and $20 million to improve drinking water systems across the state.
In the Republican response, Senate Minority Leader Kevin Raye wishes Mainers a happy Easter.
Raye, of Perry, also says Republicans have been listening to what constituents say about taxes, energy costs and proposals such as one to allow non-citizens to vote in local elections. But he says GOP leaders need to communicate their own ideas better.
