At Farmington, Craig Cooper hit two singles and a two-run home run to lead Colby College past the University of Maine-Farmington. Brandon Nieuw had two singles and an RBI while Taro Gold, Chris Murdock and Richard Newton each doubled for the 5-9 Mules. Tyler Hanson hit a two-run single for the 0-4 Beavers. Russ Schmelzer had two singles while Pat Howell hit an RBI single.

Bates 10, Thomas 4

At Lewiston, Jake Simon doubled, singled and drove in three runs to propel Bates College by Thomas. Noah Burke and Mike Ciummei each had a double, a single and an RBI for Bates (7-10). Tom Beaton, Chris Burke and Rich Velotta each had two hits while Gordy Webb hit a two-run double. Tom Desjardins doubled and singled with an RBI while Mike Busa had a two-run single for Thomas (1-13).

SOFTBALL

Bates 5, Colby 2

At Waterville, Bates College took advantage of three Colby errors in the fourth inning to score four runs en route to victory. Monica Berube hit a solo home run while Leah Maciejewski had an RBI single for the Bobcats (6-10). Alyssa Lepore and Alex Essman each had an RBI single for Colby (11-4).

Husson sweeps UM-Farmington

At Bangor, Husson University swept a doubleheader with the University of Maine-Farmington on Wednesday winning the first game 4-3 and the second game 7-0. In the first game, Caitlin LeBorgne singled twice and drove in a run to spark the Eagles. Megan Bradstreet and Megan Richard had two hits apiece while Diann Ramsey added a two-run single. Casandra Dyer and Shannon Mitchell each had two hits for Beavers. In the second game, Nicole Sargent scattered six hits through five innings and struck out six to earn the shutout for Husson (5-11). Richard hit two doubles while Sarah Risser and Kristen Sousa each singled twice. Jamie Milton added a two-run single. Erin Porter hit two singles to lead UMF (1-3).

MEN’S LACROSSE

MMA 16, Lyndon State 6

At Lyndon Center, Vt., Brian Corain and Christopher Keiley scored four goals apiece to lead Maine Maritime Academy to victory over Lyndon State College. Wade Mondoux scored three goals while Garrett Lake netted two. Nick Lund and Ryan Williams each chipped in with one goal. Daniel Redmond made nine saves for the 5-1 Mariners. Chris Mansour scored three goals to pace 1-5 Lyndon State.
