LINCOLN, Mass. – Kate S. Culver, 89, formerly of Lincoln, Mass., passed away April 3, 2009, at Faith Countryside Homes, Highland, Ill. She was born Jan. 6, 1920, in Newark, N.J., daughter of the late Dr. Royal A. and Helen D. (Thomas) Schaaf. She was married to the late Dr. Perry James Culver. He passed away Jan. 15, 2006. She was a member of The First Parish Church, Lincoln, Mass., was very active and committed to League of Women Voters, Massachusetts General Hospital Auxillary, Alliance for Democracy, and many other peace and justice organizations. Surviving are daughter, Robin and Wilson Groves of Brownsville, Vt.; daughter, the Rev. Sheldon Culver of Highland, Ill.; son, Dr. Perry and Kit Culver Jr. of Prairie Village, Kan.; son, Devore and Holly Culver of Providence, R.I.; grandchildren, Emily, Silas, Gordon and Sam Culver; brother, Royal S. (Mildred) Schaaf of Califon, N.J.; along with other relatives and friends. Friends may call 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia, Ill., where memorial services will be held 1 p.m. with Pastor Bob Goddard officiating.
