A coalition of avid paddlers is gearing up for its ninth annual Paddle Smart Safety Symposium, which will be held at Husson University’s Newman Gym on April 10. The event will run from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Workshops and demonstrations are scheduled, with topics ranging from outfitting a boat for the Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race to kayak safety and rescue techniques.
In addition, a number of interactive displays and booths will offer information to attendees.

Greenland Point hires Albanese
Officials at Greenland Point Center in Princeton have announced that they have hired Erin Albanese as the center’s program director.
Albanese is a registered Maine guide and has worked as program manager at New Horizons. She is a member of the Maine Community Foundation’s Washington County board and is an active member of Greenland Point’s board of directors. She became active with Greenland Point as a counselor while attending the University of Maine at Machias.
Jon Speed, the executive director of Greenland Point Center, said Albanese has a positive attitude and is looking forward to collaborating with local and state organizations and businesses to form working relationships that will enhance GPC’s programs.
