BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police are investigating a robbery Friday night at the Tom T. Irving Store at 1123 Broadway.

The suspect fled on foot toward the Burleigh Road area but was not found in a search of the area later that night, according to a press release from Bangor Police Department.

Sgt. Paul Edwards said in the release that the incident occurred around 9:08 p.m. when a female clerk called police to report she had been robbed. She told police a lone male suspect wearing a black hooded shirt, a mask over his face, gloves and a red or orange backpack pointed at the clerk what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun.

The suspect demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash, after which he fled the scene.

There were no injuries and the case remains under investigation. Anyone with information should contact Det. Tim Cotton at 947-7384.
