PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle Area Chamber of Commerce has given its Web site a makeover in order to offer its members a better opportunity to connect with the community and the world.

Theresa Fowler, executive director of the Chamber, said Friday the changes have been made to make the site more user-friendly while also outfitting members with “another communication device.”

“The new site is much better for members because it will make it easier for them to communicate what their business is and does,” Fowler said. “It took us two or three weeks to set it up.”

The new site was designed by Larry Hamilton of Amity Professional Services in Amity.

Fowler noted that some of the bigger changes to the site include a wider page and a member login system.

Once members log in, Fowler explained, they can write their own descriptions of their businesses and services.

The Chamber has close to 300 members, and since the new site was unveiled Thursday, close to two dozen members have registered, logged in and created their own business descriptions.

“Our members also can now put their own pictures or logo on the site and include links to their own business,” she added.

Members also will be able to sign in and edit their listings at any time.

Fowler said many of the changes were Hamilton’s idea.

“We have many new features that we didn’t have before, so we are very excited,” Fowler said Friday.

Fowler hopes to get all of the members registered over the next three weeks.
