The Energy Information Administration, the statistical arm of the U.S. Department of Energy, projects that by the year 2030 the annual use of electricity in the U.S. will be 5,000 billion kilowatt-hours. About 16 percent of this electricity will come from renewable sources: 6 percent conventional hydro, 6 percent wood and biomass, 2.6 percent wind, and 1.2 percent other (solar, geothermal, etc).
