BROOKSVILLE – Paul Maynard Bates, 75, died March 24, 2009, at his residence. He was born June 10, 1933, in Castine, the son of Maynard D. and Eleanor L. (Perkins) Bates. Paul worked as a long haul trucker all his life. He is survived by his companion, Althea Black and their two children, Kerry Black and partner, Kerri and children, Kristy and Tyler, and Cathy Fowler and husband, Mike and children, Cammie and Shawn; one daughter, Kelly Bates and partner, Todd and children, Dustin and Katie; two brothers, Murray Bates of Brooksville and Donnie Bates and wife, Nancy, of Blue Hill; stepchildren, Mary, Ellen, Ruth and Jim; and special friends, Bruno and Judy. Paul was predeceased by his wife, Judy; brother, Douglas; sister, Marilyn Steele; and a daughter, Dawna Hartin. Friends are invited to call 4-6 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Jordan-Fernald, 141 South St., Blue Hill. Spring graveside services will be announced.
