Stop making excuses for UM coach Blodgett
All we hear are excuses for University of Maine women’s basketball coach Cindy Blodgett.
Has anybody else wondered what would have happened if they had hired the professional college coaches with years under their belts instead of hiring a college basketball player who couldn’t even make the grade in the WNBA?
Let’s all wake up and smell the coffee. She can’t do it and never will be a college basketball coach. Yes, she did wonders for her teams growing up, but it’s time to stop wasting all the money she is making and get someone who can do the job professionally and we again can say we are proud of the sports at our University of Maine.
Let’s stop making excuses.

Limited deer season, not closed, is answer
As a hunter of 60-odd years, I am in agreement that something needs to be done in regards to the deer situation in northern Maine. It is my belief that there are three major items to be addressed.
1. Severe weather,
2. Over depletion of habitat creating less feed,
3. Less breeding due to over depletion of bucks.
It is my feeling a limited season is the way to go instead of a closed season with one week for archery in October for any deer. A two-week gun season for the middle two weeks of November (the first week being for any deer and the second week for bucks only).
I also don’t believe an increase in license fees is appropriate at this time due to the economy.
