Showcase 2009 touts Bangor High programs

BANGOR, Maine — Bangor High School students will demonstrate some of what they’ve learned so far this year during Showcase 2009, set for 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at the high school.

Showcase 2009 will feature demonstrations, performances and displays throughout the building that aim to highlight student achievement and talent.

During the event, visitors can see students performing scenes from Shakespeare, playing Math Team Jeopardy, performing jazz and on the fiddle, demonstrating solar energy projects and creating works of art. Visitors also can learn what students know about the cultures and languages of the world.

Every academic discipline and many extra- and co-curricular programs will be represented during Showcase 2009.

Attendees will be able to catch a special performance of “Livin’ the Dream,” an original one-act play, at 8 p.m. in Peakes Auditorium.

Held annually since 1990, Showcase aims to put a spotlight on activities and opportunities available to students at the high school. The event is open to parents and the general public.
