People sing at the end of the Peace Vigil held at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Sangerville Thursday evening. A small crowd of residents from the region gathered at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sangerville Thursday to memorialize the servicemen and women and defense contractors with ties to Maine who have died during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Each was named during a short ceremony on the sixth anniversary of the Iraq war. Also recognized were the Iraqi people who lost their lives. Holding a candle aloft, Deborah Fletcher, student minister, said, “This is for the promise of peace, it begins right here, right now.”
