BURLINGTON – Ruth Genevieve Thurlow went to be with her Lord March 10, 2009. She was born July 19, 1915, the daughter of Everett and Margaret (Page) Jipson. She attended Burlington schools and graduated from East Corinth Academy. She married William E. Thurlow, Dec. 23, 1933. He predeceased her March 25, 1983. Ruth lived most of her life in Burlington. She was a member of Burlington Church, a member of Stewart Lord Historical Society, a member of Senior Citizens of Burlington and Lowell and a member of Hilltop Club of Burlington. She played the piano at Burlington Church for nearly 40 years and played for many weddings and funerals. She loved music and loved playing it. She also played at nursing homes. Ruth’s great loves were her husband and her precious children and their spouses. Ruth had a love for everyone she met. Everyone was her friend. She is survived by five of her six children and their spouses, Dorothy Shorey and Walter of Zephyrhills, Fla., Willa Jipson and Eugene of Burlington, Claudette Harriman of Lincoln, William and Pauline Thurlow of Connecticut and Jerome Thurlow of Burlington; and daughter-in-law, Ruth A. Thurlow of Burlington. She was predeceased by her son, Cornel Thurlow. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, many, many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Mike Hallett, Pastor Stephen McDonald and Pastor Wayne Perry officiating. Spring interment will be at Mount Repose Cemetery.
