Man jumps from burning apartment house in Maine

The Associated Press

AUGUSTA, Maine — Officials say a man suffered minor burns before jumping to safety from a burning apartment house.

The Augusta Fire Department says three people were trapped inside an apartment in the two-story building after the fire was reported shortly before midnight Sunday.

The fire chief says two of the people were rescued by police and firefighters, but that the third person had to jump to safety. His name was not available.

Officials say the building was a total loss. The state fire marshal will investigate.
