DEXTER, Maine — Three men from the Skowhegan-Waterville region told Dexter police Sunday night they were robbed of $1,000 at gun- and knife point.

The men told police after the 11 p.m. incident that they had come to look at a vehicle for sale when the robbery occurred, according to Dexter Police Chief Art Roy. They said a man with a gun and another man holding a knife took the money, he said Monday.

Roy said details regarding the incident were “very sketchy.” None of the men was injured, he said.

State police and the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department assisted Dexter police in a search Sunday night for the two armed men, but without success.
