Maine hospitals: Who makes what

Because hospitals operate on different fiscal calendars and because the most current tax forms are not readily available in all cases,

CEO salary information in this table is not all from the same year. Information in most cases is drawn from the most recent available

federal tax filing posted online, some dating back to 2006. In other cases, hospitals provided the information directly.

Four Maine hospitals contract with a private company for administrative services, Tennessee-based Quorum Health Resources;

only one of the four was willing to provide CEO-specific information. Compensation data for the other three reflect the value of each

hospital’s contract with Quorum, including CEO and other executive services.

Two other hospitals are affiliated with their municipal governments and provided compensation information.

Especially at larger hospitals and health systems, CEOs typically are responsible not only for the hospital itself but also for a number

of affiliated organizations.
