ALFRED, Maine — An Old Orchard Beach woman has pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiring with her brother and another man to kill her husband.

Darlene George, 43, made her initial appearance Friday in York County Superior Court to be formally charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. She was arrested Thursday in connection with the killing of 45-year-old Winston George.

Her brother, Jeffrey Williams of West Hempstead, N.Y., and Richard “Rennie” Cassimy of Brooklyn, N.Y., are already charged with murder. Cassimy’s lawyer says it’s “fascinating” that a third person was charged months later. Both men pleaded not guilty.

Darlene George was ordered held Friday pending a bail hearing. Prosecutors asked that she be held without bail.
