Officials detain juvenile in Winthrop fire

WINTHROP, Maine – The State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a fire this morning on Bowden Street in Winthrop at the C.M.Bailey Library.

The fire originated in the boiler room. Investigation revealed an intentionally set fire, according to a release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.

A 16-year-old male from Winthrop has been detained and referred to the juvenile justice authorities.

The fire was reported by a Winthrop patrol officer. The alarm went off at 2:01 a.m.
