Winter storm bearing down on Maine

The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine — An early March storm is expected to bring heavy snow and whipping winds to Maine.

The National Weather Service says the storm will spread over the region late Sunday and continue through Monday.

Forecasters are predicting more than 6 inches of snow across the entire state, with more than a foot expected in parts of southern Maine. Sleet and freezing rain may mix with snow over coastal areas on Monday.

The storm is likely to result in school cancellations and power outages.
