Presque Isle takes victory

By

WINSLOW, Maine — Brennen Shaw scored two goals and assisted on another to lead fourth-seeded Presque Isle to a 5-1 upset victory over top-ranked John Bapst of Bangor in Saturday night’s Eastern Maine Class B semifinal hockey game at Sukee Arena.

The No. 1-ranked Crusaders outshot Presque Isle 10-4 in the first period, but the Wildcats led 1-0 after scoring with 31 seconds left in the period. The lead would get as high as 3-0 before Bapst would score and the 10-7-3 Wildcats cruised to victory.

Presque Isle goaltender Josh MacFarline came up big from the outset, stopping a breakaway midway through the first period and going on to make 22 saves on 23 shots.

Andrew Casey scored the lone goal for the 16-3 Crusaders.
